Our team
Meet the founders, the teachers who lead our courses, and the lineage of knowledge Nirmala Institute of Yoga and Ayurveda grows from.
Founders of Nirmala Institute of Yoga and Ayurveda
Piyush Mittal
Founder and President of the Institute
Piyush Mittal is a yoga and Ayurveda teacher, lecturer, and the founder and president of the Nirmala Institute of Yoga and Ayurveda. He is the initiator, author, and co-author of numerous workshops and instructor courses preparing people to work as, among others, a classical yoga instructor, Ayurveda consultant and therapist, holistic body-and-mind therapist, Marma therapy specialist, and workplace wellbeing lead — a yoga ambassador. He graduated from the Warsaw University of Technology, Faculty of Computer Science and Management.
He has consciously practised yoga for more than four decades. The foundations of this path were laid much earlier, when as a child he attended a school operating in the Vedic tradition of Saraswati Shishu Mandir. His first formal yoga teacher was Chandra Mohan Bhandari, who organised and deepened his knowledge of yoga, pranayama, and meditation.
He gained experience passing on the Indian art of working with the body, mind, and consciousness as, among other things, the organiser of more than 180 workshops and courses in 2012–2024, and four International Scientific Conferences of Yoga and Ayurveda in 2013–2017, held in cooperation with the AYUSH Ministry of Yoga, Ayurveda, and Naturopathy in India.
He completed certified training with teachers of yoga, Ayurveda, and related sciences. He studied Marma therapy and Ayurveda especially under Dr Sunil Kumar Joshi and Dr Vasant Lad. He deepens his knowledge of the Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, and Yoga Sutras in contact with teachers of the Vedanta tradition. He holds an RYT 500 certificate.
In his work he combines the language of modern science with the wisdom of classical texts, passing on knowledge in a way that is simple and understandable even for people without prior preparation. He continually deepens his own practice and learning, treating this process as a personal svadhyaya — ongoing learning and self-knowledge.

Ritu Mittal
Co-founder of the Institute
Ritu Mittal is a qualified Ayurveda therapist, beauty-services technician, and yoga teacher, who has lived and worked in Poland for many years. She gained her knowledge partly in India, where she completed specialist Ayurveda training at traditional centres in Kerala. In her work she combines the classical Ayurvedic approach with a practical, modern understanding of health and wellbeing.
In Poland she runs a therapeutic and educational practice, offering Ayurvedic consultations, treatments, and massages at the Ajurweda na Urodę salon, which she has run for more than 15 years. She supports people who want to improve their quality of life through a well-chosen diet, lifestyle, and conscious work with the body.
Ritu co-founded Nirmala Institute of Yoga and Ayurveda, where she is involved in training future Ayurveda consultants and therapists. She leads professional courses, training, and workshops on Ayurveda, a healthy lifestyle, and Ayurvedic cuisine.
She is the author of the vegetarian Indian cookbook „Kurkuma — smaki Indii” (Turmeric — Flavours of India), in which she shares recipes inspired by traditional Indian cuisine and Ayurvedic principles.

Piyush Mittal's teachers and the knowledge Nirmala grows from
The knowledge passed on at Nirmala Institute of Yoga and Ayurveda was not built as a collection of random techniques. It grows from Piyush Mittal's many years of practice, learning from teachers in India and beyond, and work with classical yoga and Ayurveda texts.
Chandra Mohan Bhandari
Yoga, pranayama, meditationPiyush's first formal yoga teacher; organised and deepened his knowledge in these areas.
Dr Sunil Kumar Joshi
Marma therapy and AyurvedaPiyush studied Marma therapy and Ayurveda especially under his guidance; he is the author of the Polish translation of his book Marma Chikitsa.
Dr Vasant Lad
AyurvedaOne of the main sources for deepening Piyush's knowledge of Ayurveda.
Jaggi Vasudeva — Sadhguru
Classical yoga and mindfulness practicesPiyush drew on his teaching of classical yoga and mindfulness practices.
Swami Sarvapriyananda
Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, and Yoga SutrasOne of the sources for deepening knowledge in the Vedanta tradition.
Swami Tadatmananda
Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, and Yoga SutrasOne of the sources for deepening knowledge in the Vedanta tradition.
How this knowledge is passed on at Nirmala
Piyush combines personal practice, knowledge passed on by teachers, and work with classical texts. In the Institute's courses he translates this knowledge into organised lectures, practice, case analysis, and methods that can be applied in modern life.
